Students and volunteers

Byam Shaw School of Art’s students work alongside The Weekend Academy participants on The Weekend Academy programmes and events. They are all practising artists at an early stage in their careers, and they work as enablers, technicians, and volunteers on events and projects. They offer participants an opportunity to share and benefit from full-time student artists’ training and enthusiasm.

The Weekend Academy offers support and direction to students who are keen to work with young people, as artists and creative animateurs in the community.

Artists are the heart of The Weekend Academy, and all projects are led by professional artists, including visiting artists, and Byam Shaw staff and technicians. The Weekend Academy has worked extensively with disabled artists and supports integrated provision for schools.
The Weekend Academy values its partnerships with artists and welcomes proposals for work with groups, particularly with young people.
